THE WATERMARK
Jervois Quay, WELLINGTON (current project)
Much of Wellington's dynamic character is derived from the waterfront and the opportunity to acquire ownership of an entire city block across from Te Papa, the national museum, and the harbour was one that Land Equity could not pass up.
The site contains the Wellington Markets and the historic John Chambers Building, built in 1918. This is a distinctive and remarkable building which occupies the dramatic and highly visible wedge-shaped site between Cable Street and Jervois Quay.
The brilliance of this location and the associated heritage sat top of mind as we embarked on an innovative plan to deliver a signature luxury residence that would signal a new standard of living.
We believe Wellington will embrace this all new 'six star' standard of inner-city living, in a luxury apartment environment not yet experienced in the city's landscape.
The Watermark includes 48 luxury residences continuously hosted by an on site concierge, a boutique hotel, a day spa and unique retail spaces on the ground floor.
The real beauty of The Watermark is in the smaller details however, the hundreds of incremental attributes that add up to a completely new kind of lifestyle.
The architect, Studio of Pacific Architecture, have more than delivered on the meaning of world -class standard. The design of the floating 'pod' room to maximise waterfront views is a clear representation of their talents and commitment to quality. Living opportunities in the inner-city have never been this aspirational.
The Watermark is certainly set to earn it's own iconic recognition on this landmark site.
Opportunities to invest in The Watermark Boutique Hotel open in FEBRUARY, 2008
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
We've taken the next step in the construction program, giving the green light to the preferred contractor, Hawkins Construction, to start their preparatory work, and for our design consultants, Studio of Pacific Architecture, to commence develop-design work.
The program anticipates demolition to commence in April, 2008.
The test bore drilling was completed on the Markets site in December, the engineers drilled beyond 30 metres (the height of the Duxton Hotel) to get a cross-section of the foundation material and to gather the critical information we need to work below sea level.
The Watermark is on track for completion in late 2010.
